14.
| (1) | A pharmacist in a community or institutional pharmacy may have a maximum of three pharmacy support personnel under his or her direct supervision: Provided that a pharmacist who is a tutor to a pharmacist intern or a pharmacy technician (trainee) may have a maximum of two pharmacy support personnel under his or her supervision. |
| (2) | A pharmacist in wholesaler of manufacturing pharmacy may have a maximum of five pharmacy support personnel under his or her direct supervision: Provided that— |
| (a) | a pharmacist has no more than three pharmacist’s assistants (learner basic), pharmacist’s assistants (learner post-basic), pharmacy technician (learner), or pharmacy technicians (trainee) under direct personal supervision; |
| (b) | a pharmacist who is a tutor to a pharmacist intern may have a maximum of four pharmacy support personnel under his or her supervision, of which only two may be pharmacist’s assistants (learner basic), pharmacist’s assistants (learner post-basic), pharmacy technicians (learner), or pharmacy technicians (trainee); |
| (3) | A pharmacist who is a tutor to a pharmacist intern undergoing internship at a provider of an education and training programme approved by the council for purposes of registration as a pharmacist, may act as tutor to a maximum of five such interns and no pharmacy support personnel; |
| (4) | A pharmacist who supervises pharmacist's assistants (post-basic) or Pharmacy Technicians at a PHC or any other facility approved by council may have a maximum of five pharmacy support personnel under his or her indirect supervision. |
| (5) | A pharmacist may supervise a combination of pharmacy support personnel and interns in accordance with sub-regulations (1) and (2) or in accordance with guidelines as provided by Council from time to time. |
| (6) | For purposes of work-based learning or training under the auspices of a provider, in respect of education and training, Council may determine the supervision ratios from time to time. |

Notwithstanding regulation 14, the Council may approve a written application for an increase in the ratio as stipulated in regulation 14: provided that—
| (1) | each application is treated on its own merit; |
| (2) | the motivation for such application is to the satisfaction of Council; and |
| (3) | any increase in the ratio approved by Council shall apply in that specific circumstance or situation only and be subject to such conditions as the council may determine. |
